Open house today to detail Highway 23 construction
MANKATO - Plans for a new road surface on Highway 23 from Interstate 90 to Jasper this summer provides an opportunity for land owners with damaged drain crossings, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
Individuals interested in learning more about the Highway 23 project are invited to attend an open house today from 4 to 6 p.m. at Memorial Hall, 101 Wall St., Jasper.
The project involves removing the asphalt surface, recycling it for a base and adding new pavement for the surface. Motorists can expect a much smoother ride when the project is complete in the fall.
When the old surface is removed, Mn/DOT will deal with drain tile issues in the highway right of way. Anyone with tile crossings needing repair is encouraged to attend the meeting.
The construction will require a detour to I-90, Highway 75 and Rock County Road 1 during the project.
